The core role is to provide administrative support to the Cancer Site Specific Multidisciplinary Teams (MDT’s) within Velindre Cancer Centre ensuring and maintaining standards in the collection of quality data in relation to cancer patients. To collate, record and disseminate cancer information for Site Specific Teams for individual patients.

To efficiently and effectively co-ordinate the work of the specialist multi-disciplinary team to ensure there is effective co-operation between departments across the whole cancer pathway of those involved in the delivery of cancer services across hospital sites.

To contribute to the improvement of patient care through the development of the MDT module primarily in the area of clinical data collection, validation, analysis and quality assurance.

Responsible for communicating sometimes complex and sensitive information to lead clinicians, clinicians and other non clinical professionals and external regarding patient records, diagnoses and appointments.

Negotiate discrepancies within the CCMDS and resolve any discrepancies.

Show tact and diplomacy when requesting information verbally, electronically or in writing from other departments or hospitals.

Communicate effectively within the department contributing ideas for improvement and development.

Input accurate and timely information into the Canisc MDT module to ensure communication is maintained between the Cancer Centre and Local Health Boards.

Communicate effectively with the health records manager and network staff regarding workload, progress, and difficulties or problems regarding the MDT function and organisation.
