**About the role**:
Based at East Town Park in Haverhill, you will be working within the existing Ranger Services and will be involved in encouraging the use of parks and open spaces within West Suffolk.

Duties will include:

- patrolling parks and public open spaces on a bicycle, on foot and using a work vehicle
- meeting and advising the public in the use of the facilities
- enforcing regulations
- promoting a customer-oriented approach
- assisting in the running of events
- maintaining the protection and security of all the facilities and equipment within the parks, including flora and fauna and ancient monuments.
- Working with volunteers on conservation, maintenance and landscaping tasks.

The role involves a large amount of lone working.

**What you will need**:
You will be keen to be involved in the care of green spaces and facilities and have previous experience of working with the public. Personal qualities such as effective communication skills, the ability to deal with the public in a helpful and tactful manner, an enthusiastic approach, numeracy and literacy are essential. A good knowledge of the local area is desirable. The role involves a large amount of lone working and working weekends and evenings. The ability to use hand held mechanical equipment.

As part of the annualised hours rota, up to 32 hours per week will be worked in the summer and up to 19 hours per week in the winter. The rota will involve working weekends and evenings in the summer.

A full driving licence is required.
