The SIU is a fascinating and exciting place to work. The department is a unique function with South East Policing, providing intelligence support to operations in Force, ROCU and across partners.

The department support operations in the highest harm and threat areas, exploiting and enhancing intelligence from the interception of communications from Targeted Intercept (TI) and Targeted Equipment Interference (TEI) to problem solve and maximise enforcement opportunities. Identifying risks and threats to people is also a key part of the role. We provide intelligence support to assist in the prevention and management of Threats to Life (TTL) in order to safeguard vulnerable people.

The SIU manages intelligence from the interception of communications against tasked operations for South East Policing. This is an exciting and unique role where you will gain first-hand knowledge of Serious and Organised Crime and lead intelligence collection against our highest priorities. The work conducted by the SIU delivers significant operational results day in day out.

Operational work includes supporting murders, kidnaps, Firearm threats, Organised Immigration Crime and drug supply networks. As a result, the SIU can often be an exhilarating and fast moving working environment. We work with innovative technology and constantly evolve to keep up with the ever-growing complexity and sophistication of organised crime.

SIU staff are integral to leading the fight against Serious and Organised Crime. You will work to exploit all relevant information from the interception of communications in order to produce actionable and timely intelligence so that SEROCU can continue to disrupt organised criminals who pose the highest risk to the UK.

Whether it is identifying and disseminating intelligence around firearms, cash or a drugs handover, an organised immigration crime attempt, or an opportunity to identify a person of interest, the input of SIU staff ensures that when the operational teams deploy they achieve the greatest impact and value to an investigation.

You can expect a varied and fulfilling career within this business area, with two days never being quite the same. Your work will be often be crucial in obtaining impressive results that make the headlines and your role will be integral in the disruption of organised crime in the South East.

**Responsibilities**
- Embed within the National Crime Agency specialist intelligence facilities in London, forging strong working relationships with this key partner agency and other law enforcement partners promote the work of the unit and help to achieve the strategic aims of the SEROCU.
- Interact with key Intelligence Managers within the SEROCU Regional Intelligence Bureau to discuss capability and capacity for intelligence activity. Assist in the assessment of operational requirements and submit bids for support from the team.
- Lead and manage a team of specialist Confidential Case intelligence officers, managing and prioritising workload allocation, staffing resilience and cover. Oversee the management of team PDR, leave and sickness absence.
- Provide a consultation service to investigations/operations regarding the use of communications data, providing support and advice on complex legal and evidential requirements, network services and restrictions. Provide specialist support to major investigations and be responsible for responding to time critical sensitive information, including deciding upon an appropriate course of action.
- recommending techniques and tactics to be used to enhance the overall intelligence picture.
- Review sensitive intelligence and provide recommendations and intervention opportunities for the SIO to determine operational direction against organised crime groups.
- Responsible for risk assessing dynamic intelligence for further dissemination to the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) to meet operational objectives, minimise threat and harm whilst protecting associated tactics.
- Support intelligence requirements of crimes in action enhancing the effectiveness of law enforcement response.
- Identify disclosure matters relating to CPIA and Rv Preston from material generated to comply with current legislation and associated case law.

**Further comments**
This role is critical to the provision of specialist intelligence support to the SEROCU fight against organised crime. The ability to work effectively with key partners, as a representative of the SEROCU, and the supervision of a team of staff whilst embedded within the NCA is paramount.
