Handy Person

Purpose
To carry out repairs and general maintenance duties ranging from simple building maintenance to plumbing, painting and general joinery work.

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform maintenance and light repairs
- Perform routine landscaping/installation and maintenance on the grounds
- Building works
- Fix doors and change the locks where required
- Carry out flooring works
- Troubleshoot general problems
- Repair and replace general hardware
- Painting and decorating - Remove stains and paint building when necessary. Paint and fill gaps or crevices (on walls, walk areas etc.)
- Basic repair of equipment or appliances
- Assist tradespeople with electrical or mechanical repairs
- Undertake duties as assigned or emergency tasks (e.g. shovelling snow, gritting)
- Identify and report the need for major repairs
- Changing light bulbs and ensuring other fixtures and fittings are in good working order
- Changing fuses
- Minor plumbing and joinery work
- Clearing or cleaning general areas
- Shifting furniture or equipment
- Assembling furniture or equipment
- Footpath maintenance
- Clearing gutters
- Changing filters on air conditioning systems if required
- Maintaining property exterior through the different seasons
- Assisting engineers
- To comply with the company health and safety rules
- To participate with the quality and environmental practices in the workplace
Any other duties as directed by the Senior Engineer.

Minimum Required
- Proven experience as handy person
- Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment
- Basic math skills
- Good communication ability
- Well-organised and good problem-solving
- Attention to detail
- Broad range of craftsmanship and practical skills
- Good knowledge of electrical works.
- Good knowledge of carpentry/joinery.
