Hove, United Kingdom Sussex Partnership NHS FoundationTrust Full time

We are looking for Health Care Assistants to join our bank team at Mill View Hospital.

Mill View Hospital has 5 wards, Regency (Male acute), Pavilion (Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit) Caburn (Female acute) Meridian (older age acute) and Brunswick (Dementia). We also have a Place of Safety attached to the hospital. There is a dedicated unit coordinator 24 hours a day and senior B7 nurse at night.

Our shared values within the team at Mill View are important to us, we are one hospital, not individual areas and wards that work in isolation, we look after each other and support each other when it’s needed, particularly during difficult times and this has been needed more than ever over the last 18 months. Your voice, your ideas and your concerns are important to the leadership team, we encourage you to talk about areas of concern and empower you to implement positive changes. We value diversity and opportunity for everyone that works here and we are incredibly proud to have won the Equality and Diversity award at the Positive Practice Awards 2021 and Team of the Year Award in 2019

People with a lived experience of mental health issues are strongly encouraged to apply.

You will be working alongside an established and experienced multi-disciplinary team (MDT) on each ward. This consists of nurses, healthcare assistants, nursing associates, doctors, the occupational therapy team, a psychology, the pharmacy team and art therapists.

You will be doing an incredibly important role, caring for the people we look after, getting to know them and working with them to get better. This may be challenging at times but it will also be interesting, fulfilling, fun and you will learn about treatment plans, medication, nursing interventions and different diagnosis. We would encourage you to do lots of activities on the ward, like table tennis, board games, group activities and lots of one to one conversations with the people who use our services

Working for your organisation

Mill View Hospital is a great place to work and grow professionally. A number of our qualified nursing staff, from ward manager to staff nurse began their journey on the bank team. Both our lead psychologist and Clinical Lead Nurse manager started their journey as a health care assistant a number of years ago here at Mill View.

Flexible working is important to us at Mill View Hospital and we would consider any flexible working requests you may have which will help you have a healthy work-life balance. There will be opportunities to work over a 24/7 rota which includes weekend and bank holidays.

It has been a challenging year for the team due covid-19 but a year which was still full of improvement which has been driven by a skilled and passionate team. You would be provided with on-going support via supervision and reflective practice.
