Line Manager Senior Technical Inspector

**Purpose of the job**

To undertake and manage Professional and Technical Inspections in their area of expertise and provide Technical advice and support to site teams, DIO and customers.

Develop collaborative relationships with stake holders in order to deliver mutually satisfactory solutions / outcomes.

Deliver support to customers with applied technical, professional and specialist knowledge with mínimal supervision.

**Responsibilities**

**Technical Responsibilities**
- Carry out Competent Persons (CP) inspections and condition inspections on assets to meet Statutory and Mandatory compliance and provide detailed reports confirming any remedial actions that may be required.
- Manage Specialist Supply chain to carry out Competent Persons (CP) inspections on assets to meet Statutory and Mandatory requirements. Review reports prior to issuing to customers.
- Visit client sites and carry out measured surveys as necessary, to allow the preparation of detailed reports, specifications, and schedules of work.
- Produce clear, concise costed feasibility reports.
- Prepare technical specifications, schedules of work, contract documentation etc. Invite quotations / prices from the Approved Supply Chain; review/evaluate returned prices, liaising with Contractors as necessary to ensure that prices are fully compliant and within the project cost accepted by the Client.
- Undertake any design work necessary where appropriate and to achieve compliance with statutory requirements e.g. building regulations, environmental standards etc.
- Liaise with in house Quantity Surveyors on cost estimates for projects.
- Undertake the procurement and project management of any other specialist task/project in area of expertise.
- Provide Technical support to site teams on maintenance matters.
- Assist the Technical Inspection Manager and Senior Technical Inspector in auditing and monitoring policies, procedures and work activities associated with the area of work.
- Liaise with Defence Infrastructure Organisation Technical Authority on Technical matters.
- Inputting to a database of design solutions in area of expertise that can be utilised for new projects.
- Review, check and approve Design Work by others as required to ensure the design meets the Client's and statutory requirements relevant to the Technical Inspector Role.
- Make sure good design practice is shared across all FDIS Contract sites.
- Identify opportunities in the area of expertise either through design or product selection where carbon reduction can be achieved relevant to the Technical Inspector Role.
- To oversee ongoing completion of Quality Assurance, Health & Safety, Security and Fraud and Sustainability Processes.

**People Responsibilities**
- Liaise with DIO, End Users and other stakeholders to provide advice and support.
- Advise management and the local client on technical matters in the discipline
- Notify the Establishment Manager of any defects relating to statutory and Mandatory audits.
- Proactively support a safety culture in which teams and individuals are responsible and accountable for their actions and perform at their best, improve performance and realise their full potential.

**Commercial Responsibilities**
- Perform audits on Statutory Certification in relation to the Technical Inspector Role.
- Manage and report against the agreed programmes of Inspection including the analysis of any risks.
- Contribute to data gathering and forecasting associated with the Forward Additional Services Plan
- Identify any risks around compliance with Statutory and Mandatory requirements and implement plans in conjunction with relevant stakeholders to eliminate or mitigate them.
- Ensure operations are delivered efficiently and economically in order to promote a profitable business for Mitie.

**Role Specific Requirements**
- Responsible for the programming, arranging and completion of Building and Civil Engineering Inspection tasks across sites within their area of responsibility, including but not limited to:

- Buildings and their components,
- Footbridges, small vehicle bridges, culverts,
- Airfield pavements,
- Blast Doors,
- Ranges and training areas,
- Animal Accommodation,
- Road Tunnels,
- Highway structures including traffic calming,
- Retaining walls,
- Fixed Ladders,
- ESTC6 Technical Inspections.
