Reporting directly to the Vice Principal, you will head up an existing finance team of 7.

You will be a Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a

background in Practice or Industry. Previous experience within the education sector is not essential.

Key duties will include:

- Ensure the provision of accurate and relevant financial information and reports.
- Ensure all financial policies, regulations and procedures operate efficiently and effectively, are adequately documented, and updated.
- Advise on the selection of accounting software and lead the implementation of new accounting systems.
- Liaise with appropriate personnel from funding bodies, bankers, auditors, tax advisers, software houses, insurers, pension providers and other key suppliers.
- Carry out reviews of suppliers, procurement, and tendering processes to ensure cost value for money and sustainable purchasing.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts, financial forecasts, annual accounts for audit, budgets, and business plans.
- Ensure the operation of effective balance sheet controls, timely completion of reconciliations and investigation and resolution of queries.
- Ensure timely completion of ESFA financial returns.
- Oversee the treasury policy, cashflow reporting and cash deposits.
- Be responsible for bids and project co-ordination.
- Provide advice and guidance on financial issues.
- Attend and contribute to Committee meetings.
- Effectively lead, manage, and develop the Finance team.
- Manage budgets and capital plans effectively to achieve best value.

Skills & Experience:

- ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified
- At least 5+ years experience in a similar role
- Experience managing a small finance team
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong business partnering skills
- Able to manage a busy workload with lots of variety
