We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Somercotes team in the position of QA Supervisor.

The primary objective of the roles is to ensure that company quality systems specific to the Bison site are delivered such that these are complying with the requirements set out within the ISO 9001 certification, Factory Process Control, and any additional specific customer and regulatory needs.

The role has primary responsibility for ensuring that through site quality control technicians, finished product leaving site is fit for purpose, is responsible for the systems and procedures for testing and laboratory practices within this. The role is also client and customer facing ensuring that positive relationships are maintained. The quality control focus on containment of issues, where recurring themes arise, they will escalate this to the quality assurance team for focused improvement activity.

Within the Bison business, there is a requirement to ensure that drawings are aligned to manufacturing process’ and as such controls and checks are in place to maintain quality

Your duties would include but not limited to the following;
- Responsible for managing a team of checkers at our Bison manufacturing plant.
- Responsible for functions within the site laboratories and the testing regime elements of the sites control plans.
- Creation of quality alerts on the event of product and process issues
- Oversight of the concession release process
- Development and creation of SOP’s for Laboratory functions and process controls.
- Raising supplier non-conformances through the required process, interacting with SQA and Concrete leads.
- Following the site control plan and ensuring that issues are raised at the SQCDP meetings
- against non-conformities.
- Ensuring lack of compliance to following Standard Operating Procedures is raised and dealt with at site level.
- Ensuring Reaction plans are followed when a non-conformity is detected in the manufacturing
- process.
- Bison level ISO 9001 non-conformity / IMS resolution and attendance during site quality audits.
- Verification that product testing is in alignment with requirements set out at the sites they oversee.
- Oversight of Calibration systems
- Involved in client customer visits pertaining to finished product issues.
- Ensure that complaints are investigated to the appropriate level of root cause investigation at site level.
- Precast - Liaison and participation with operations and design engineering teams to ensure that manufacturing process’ are documented such that engineering design requirements are delivered to the need of the business and sites.
- Suitable containment of issues and where recurring themes arise ensure that these are escalated into project activity for the quality assurance team.

About you;
- Ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Auditing Awareness, ideally to lead auditor standard.
- BSI assessment exposure
- ISO 9001 Awareness
- Diploma in Concrete Technology or equivalent
- Strong systems and IT skills (Excel, Visio, Word, Powerpoint etc.)
