Weymouth Harbour is looking for someone to join our professional and enthusiastic team based at the harbourside in Weymouth. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with maritime experience in harbour and vessel operations and experience of working in a customer care environment.
It is a busy, interesting and challenging role aiming to assist with the day to day harbour and maintenance activities and provide a professional and first-rate service to customers. Experience of sailing or boating is needed to deliver on the specialist elements of the role.

**What you can expect to be doing**:
You will be working in a vibrant, operational environment and be called upon to complete a number of varied roles in support of the business.
Assist the Harbour Master or Assistant Harbour Master and ensure that the harbour is operated safely, including health and safety inspections, support to pollution control measures and working on safety management systems.
Provide a professional and first-rate service to harbour customers on the main reception desk, meet and greet customers as they arrive by vessel, discuss and action their many and varied requests.
You will book in and allocate berths for visiting craft and their crew; oversee the operation of the town slipway, manage on-line bookings, taking fees and processing records. Always busy but in the high season this is particularly demanding so you will need to be able to work under pressure and always ensure that customers receive the highest standard of customer care.
A self motivated approach is required with a responsibility to respond quickly to incidents and emergencies and to customer requests. Efficiently allocate berths, maximising income for the harbour. Delivering excellent customer service to all harbour customers is crucial in the competitive environment that we work in.
You will need to be able to communicate well and work efficiently with the rest of the team to plan and organise the workload effectively, prioritising tasks and working to defined deadlines.
You will need administration and IT knowledge that will enable you maintain records and databases.
You will be required to work outdoors as regular site visits and inspections are required either on foot or by boat. Maritime qualifications and experience are needed to deliver the specialist elements if this role.
You will be required to work weekends, evening and bank holidays

**About you**:

- Administer the process of letting berths for visiting craft and their crew. Offering suitable berths, taking into account the size and type of craft and weather conditions.
- Maximise berth occupancy to generate the highest return on fees for space available.
- Processing all documentation relating to the allocation of a berth.
- Lifting of Weymouth Town Bridge
- Provide a professional and first rate service to harbour customers on the main reception desk. Meet and greet customers, discuss and action their many and varied requests. Make sure that all callers receive the highest standards of customer care.
- Handle a high volume of visits from customers ensuring that customers receive the highest standard of care and advice.
- Processing financial documentation, taking payments over the phone or face to face using a till.
- Oversee the operation of the slipway and manage the online booking system, checking and authorising permits.
- Provide office services to include updating and maintaining databases and spreadsheets, checking of documentation,
- Support other harbour office functions as required
