**Purpose of Role**:
Provide a varied, appealing, wholesome and nutritious diet, suited to individually assessed and recorded requirements at flexible times. Provide refreshments and meals for relatives and visitors as required, and for staff as agreed with the Registered Manager.
**Core Responsibilities & Duties**:
- Prepare menus for the nursing home considering the content, balance, colour and nutritional values, in line with agreed budget
- Prepare, cook and serve well-presented meals at the agreed times, minimising any food wastage
- Provide residents with three full meals each day (at least two of which must be cooked) at intervals of not more than five hours during the day
- Ensure that hot and cold beverages and snacks are always available
- To prepare special diets for residents as directed by the nursing staff
- Ensure provision of cultural or religious dietary needs as per individual care plan
- Help carry out stock takes at the end of each month
- Have full understanding of H.A.C.C.P, ensure all staff adhere to H.A.C.C.P and all documentation is completed and signed by the appropriate staff
- Ensure that the Health and Safety standards in food provision areas are met at all times
- Maintain an agreed deep cleaning schedule for the kitchen
- Comply with equipment approved usage guidelines and to work in a safe manner
- Assist in the preparation of function menus and costing
- Co-operate with special requests from the Home Manager and residents wherever possible
- Complete all mandatory training as required by the Home
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks as expected by the Registered Manager
**Salary**: £10.60 per hour
