Acute hospital paediatric services are provided at GRH and Paediatric out patient services at CGH, GRH and in peripheral outreach clinics around the county. The community paediatric clinical team consists of seven consultants, two specialist doctors and a staff grade doctor with four specialist nurses in epilepsy, neuro-disability and ADHD. We work closely with our very dedicated and supportive administration and team and are part of the wider paediatric department which also includes acute paediatrics and neonates. We value and work to foster our good working relationships with colleagues in CAMHS, therapy services and education.
The ethos of the whole paediatric department is very much one of wanting to continually improve to ensure we provide the best care possible for children and families. Our recent paediatric strategy (2021- 2026) outlines our aim to deliver excellence in care for our patients and families as evidenced by our outcomes, patient experience and the values we embody. Key priority areas in achieving this are ‘care without boundaries’ (developing our multi-disciplinary/multi-agency working within the integrated care services) and investing in the wellbeing and professional development of our team. As such, this is an exciting time to join the team, with varied opportunities to be part of creating new pathways, championing the needs of children and young people and developing the service to provide the best care for everyone.
Please see full job description attached.
Our Acute and Community Paediatric, and Neonatal services merged a number of years ago, to enable single consultant continuity for most patients that access our service. This allows a close working together between the different teams, with access to specialty opinions and investigations. The whole department has a strong educational ethos and we would welcome those with a desire to participate in education and research.
The postholder is expected to participate in specialist child protection cover during working hours, Monday to Friday 9-5. Availability and involvement with patients on the ward is expected in order to deliver continuity of care for patients with complex and chronic illness/neuro-disability.
This post does not include consultant ward cover or acute paediatric/neonatal on call.
