Phlebotomist

**THE CASTLE MEDICAL CENTRE Job Title**: Phlebotomist Main Purpose of Post: To provide phlebotomy service to practice population Responsible To: Nurse Lead (Clinically) Practice Managers (Administratively) Main duties and responsibilities of the post Phlebotomy Service To run a daily phlebotomy service for all patients of the practice. Ensuring Health & Safety legislation is adhered to at all times Ensuring each sample is clearly labelled and sent to the Path lab in a timely manner Ensuring all relevant paperwork has been complete To undertake domiciliary visits for housebound patients requiring INR monitoring. Administrative duties To maintain adequate stock levels in order to provide a phlebotomy service. To ensure all patient information is entered accurately into computer system Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care.

Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports. Special Requirements The post holder must be qualified as a phlebotomist or willing to undertake the necessary training. The post holder must ensure their Hep B immunity is at a satisfactory level and inform the Practice of this. The post holder must liaise closely with the nurses/HCA on duty.
