**Mulberry 1 (Acute Assessment Unit) 3 days**:
Providing rapid assessment, you would be working as an active member of the MDT to inform the assessment process and achievement of agreed goals and actions to support individuals in either continuing their recovery with community professionals or transfer to Mulberry 2.

**Mulberry 2 (Treatment Ward) 3 weeks**:
Mulberry 2 provides an extended period of assessment with a broader focus on treatment which may require commencement in a hospital setting.

Increasing the anticipated length of stay for this part of the pathway provides an opportunity for extended assessment, engagement with increased community support and a safe environment in which recovery/response to treatment can be facilitated.

The strong emphasis on MDT working continues, inclusive of the formulation and delivery of OT, Arts Therapy and Psychology.

**Mulberry 3 (Recovery Ward) 3 months**:
Maintaining a recovery focus and emphasis on moving towards the community by continuing support from a range of multidisciplinary staff whose primary goal is to empower and involve patients and their loved ones in the continuation of care.

Being the recovery part of the pathway, it is usual practice for individuals to be utilising increased periods of leave away from the ward both independently and supported by the team either by way of arranged or spontaneous activities aligned to the care planning process.

The post holder will provide support and care for service users with mental and physical health needs and to their carers within a multidisciplinary setting.

They will undertake assigned tasks under the general supervision of a registered nurse, including assisting in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.

The post holder will be trained to ensure that issues of equality, diversity and rights are dealt with in accordance with good practice and legislation.

- To promote a positive service user experience throughout their stay through proactive listening, being responsive to issues raised and through resolving issues and concerns raised by service users with colleagues and senior members of the team.
- To be responsible for maintaining and conducting oneself in a professional manner towards service users, carers, colleagues and other agencies, at all times.
- To participate in working collaboratively with other Trust services and external agencies to provide seamless care for service users.
- To provide service users with personal care, where and when required, and demonstrate empathy, dignity, respect and compassion at all times.
- To understand the importance of the relatives/carers contribution to care and conversing with the service users and their relatives/carers, establishing their needs and assisting them as necessary.
- Ensuring that any entries made by the post holder in the nursing notes are current, relevant and accurate, and the content will then be reported & counter signed by the registered nurse or relevant professional.
- Working in partnership with the service user to access a range of activities and services to maintain their independence.

You may be required to undertake and successfully complete the new national Care Certificate within a 12 weeks’ timeframe if you meet our criteria. You will receive full training and support and The Care Certificate sets out 15 national care standards that must be achieved by all health and social care staff to demonstrate that they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide safe and excellent quality of care. It is a foundation programme which can provide the first steps to career development within the NHS.
