Thatcham, United Kingdom Phoenix Learning & Care Full time

**Job Title**:Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

**Job Location**:The Grange School, Thatcham, RG19

**Salary**:Between £35,175 - £43,050 based on 40 hours per week

**Contract Type**:Permanent - Full time and term time only contracts available.

As a specialist speech and language therapist, how do you spend your week? With us, you’d start your day with a morning briefing, updating others and getting updated on the great work the team is doing. Next, you’ll either have a 1:1 session with one of the pupils you’re supporting, or run a group session, or even take part in classroom activities. Whatever you find yourself doing, you’ll be making a difference in the life of a child or young person living with Social, Emotional or Mental Health difficulties. You’ll be a support to a child or young person who has experienced trauma, or may be Autistic, or have ADHD.

As a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you’ll also spend time supporting and doing supervisions for our less experience speech and language therapists. You’ll be able to share your knowledge with university students that we work with, and input into writing the training we share with our wider teams. You’ll also have protected time to develop your own clinical and mentoring skills whilst still receiving your own clinical supervisions.

Don’t panic - You won’t be buried in paperwork. It’s part of the role, but you’ll have the flexibility to work from home outside of term time to focus on this so that your time in the school can be spent focusing on the children and young people we support.

**A day in the life of a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist will involve**:

- Taking a trauma informed approach to clinical work. You’ll work with a small caseload of pupils who will have varying Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, Learning disabilities and Autism. You’ll be able to do this through 1-2-1 support, classroom work and group sessions.
- Taking an active role in the admissions process for new pupils, including helping to write pen portraits.
- Working with the wider team to offer the best support to our pupils, including our onsite creative art therapists, teachers, and teaching assistants, and taking part in Multidisciplinary team meetings. This work may include supervisions, training, or taking part in projects related to the work we do.
- Administration. Whilst doing all your great work with the pupils, we’ll need you to keep their records up to date and carry out all the administrative tasks you’d expect to come with this role. Don’t worry though, during the school holidays you can work from home so that you have the space to do this without it impacting the time you spend with the pupils.

**To be a successful Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you’ll need**:

- A recognised Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, along with HCPC Registration and membership with the Royal College of Speech and Language.
- Great experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist.
- The desire and confidence to run supervisions and offer training and support to other speech and language therapists.
- Good IT skills - We’ll train you on how to use our systems, but it would help if you had a working understanding of using Microsoft packages like Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
- A full driving licence. Whilst this role is based in a single location, there will be times that you need to attend meetings offsite which would require the use of a vehicle.

If you have experience working within the NHS, the best way for us to describe the level of experience needed for this role would be to consider it a “Band 6” position.

**In return for your time, you’ll get**:

- ** Holidays -** You’ll get 28 days annual leave, including public holidays. You’ll also get an extra day off on your birthday
- ** Pension scheme**- Our pension scheme is based on you paying in 5%, and us adding 3%.
- ** Learning & Development Opportunities** - We provide comprehensive learning opportunities for team members to develop themselves.
- ** Discounts **- You’ll have access to brilliant discounts through the Blue Light Card and our own employee benefits platform.
- ** Wellbeing Support** - Your wellbeing is always our priority. You’ll have access to mental health and wellbeing support. On top of this, our therapies team offers a monthly confidential check in clinic, and group reflective practice sessions.
- ** Cycle2Work **-The cycle to work scheme enables you to buy a bicycle at a discounted rate.
- ** DBS **- As this role required you to have an enhanced DBS carried out, we will cover this cost.

After 12 months service you’ll also be eligible for our Medicash scheme which covers a wide range of medical, health and wellbeing expenses (Including immediate access to a GP). You’ll get life assurance paid at x2 your annual salary.
- At Phoenix Learning and Care, we pride ourselves on our diverse workforce, an
