Haywards Heath, United Kingdom 279 University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 5 Dietitian to join our friendly team at our busy, district general, Princess Royal Hospital in the lovely Hayward's Heath.

This is a full time, permanent post.

Our hospital trust is rated ‘outstanding for caring’ by CQC and this is a really great place to develop your career.

You will work closely with the other senior dietitians at PRH with excellent support and development opportunities. You will cover general medical/surgical wards and one outpatient clinic per week.

The post includes patient talks and healthcare professional training so you would gain fantastic experience.

The post involves student training after you have had 6 months experience and attended the relevant training course.

You would be part of a well-respected, highly knowledgeable department of dietitians including regional specialities for paediatrics, gastroenterology, oncology, renal, neurology & neurosciences, critical care and trauma in the wider Trust.

The Trust also provides a multi professional AHP preceptorship course for Band 5 staff in addition to department supervision sessions.

Questions and informal visits are welcome.

We regret that there are no relocation packages attached to this post.

Manage an autonomous clinical caseload of patients with a variety of clinical complexity. This will include undertaking individual patient consultations at ward level, out-patients and patient group education sessions such as cardiac rehab.

Dietetic treatment plans will sometimes require the inclusion of ACBS (Advisory Committee on Borderline Substances) listed nutrition products (enteral feeds, nutritional supplement products, etc.). Following assessment and development of treatment plans you will be required to communicate with GPs/doctors on the ACBS items needed. These items will be used in line with clinical/professional guidelines and with guidance from senior dietitians.

Skilled at undertaking measurements on patients - height (via different methods), weight, waist measurements, circumferences.

At UHSussex, diversity is our strength, and we want you to feel included to help us always put the Patient First, as shown in our Outstanding for Caring CQC rating. Your uniqueness and experiences will be part of our creative and innovative community where everyone is encouraged to succeed. We have a range of Staff Networks to help break down barriers, and can offer a buddy to help new members settle in. We’re proud to be a Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) and a Veteran Aware Trust.

We treat our patients and staff with the same compassion and empathy we expect for ourselves. We’re here for them when they need us, and we go above and beyond to meet their needs. This can be seen in our Wellbeing Programme for staff which is extensive and designed to support you when you need it - because we know that to look after others we must first look after ourselves.

As a university trust and a leader in healthcare research, we value learning, teaching and training so that we can be the best that we can be. From the moment you start with us and throughout your career we will help you to grow and develop. We hope that in choosing UHSussex you are choosing a long and happy career where you will be able to see the difference you make and feel valued for all that you do.

Skilled at communicating with the home care division of enteral feeding companies to set patients up on home care delivery systems.

Plan and prioritise your own clinical workload with guidance and support from your line manager and other senior dietitians within the department.

Develop and extend your own personal knowledge of clinical practice in all specialities, and demonstrate this by extending the complexity of patient within your caseload, competently provide cover for other dietitians, participate in project work/audit undertaken in the department, and implementation of changes in clinical practice.

Implement within your clinical practice any relevant standards and policies, e.g. department procedures, National Professional Standards for Dietitians Practising in Healthcare.
