Assistant Buyer

Buyer / Assistant Buyer / Procurement Administrator / Purchasing Assistant

Assistant Buyer duties include:

- To carry out steel procurement activities (placing orders for steel beams/girders, nuts and bolts etc) in conjunction with the company Buyer.
- Administration and supporting duties such as creating purchase order numbers, updating of stock/material lists, scheduling delivery dates to suit manufacturing programme.
- Material nesting (to reduce waste and maximise material usage).
- Receiving and logging of test certificates and delivery notes to the in house software.
- Maintain and develop relationships with existing and new suppliers.

Assistant Buyer requirements:

- Good purchasing/buying experience, ideally in a steelwork engineering/fabrication environment.
- Good attention to detail.
- Computer literate - Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Be organised and able to work within deadlines.
