This is an exciting opportunity, as you will play a vital role ensuring that the vehicles on our roads are complying with legislation. You will also be working closely alongside the Police and other Agencies when required.

**Job description**:
An opportunity has arisen for an individual to support our DVLA Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) fleet as an ANPR driver.

Reporting to the ANPR Team Leader you will operate a fleet of vehicles containing Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras. These are based around the country and capture images of potential unlicensed vehicles and are an integral part of the Agencies commitment to the reduction of Vehicle Excise Duty evasion.

This role will involve you being fully trained as an ANPR Operator based in Gateshead. However, there may be the requirement to provide cover based on business need across the ANPR network, therefore we are looking for individuals who are willing to travel on a very regular basis.

Role Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Driving the ANPR vehicle on a daily basis, ensuring that it is set up in line with prescribed operating and health and safety instructions.
- Contacting the helpdesk with details of location when set up and results when closing down.
- Working in a flexible manner with high level of overnight stays, requiring the Operator to lone work the majority of the time.
- Taking out vehicles which are not situated in their base region.
- Operator’s will be responsible for completing and sending the relevant travel forms in advance to the ANPR helpdesk.
- Ensuring both individual and vehicle accuracy and output performance meet objectives on a daily/weekly and monthly basis.
- Notifying the ANPR helpdesk when there is any issue with either the vehicle or ANPR equipment.

**Person specification**:
There is a large element of personal responsibility within this role as you will be responsible for your workload and your own time management.

You will be required to be proactive in your approach always seeking to provide improvements in your role e.g. taking different routes at different times of the day to get the most peak time camera footage.

We require you to be forward thinking and innovative and always take opportunities to suggest improvements. You will need to have the ability to be self-motivated as this role involves long periods of time in our vehicles capturing images of potential unlicensed vehicles.

**Essential Criteria**:

- You will need to have a full, clean driving licence.
- A confident driver comfortable driving in unfamiliar locations.
- Be able to travel at very short notice.
- Ability to commit to regular overnight travel of up to 4 consecutive nights.
- Ability to travel during peak holiday season.
- The role holder will have a flexible attitude and confidence in communicating with stakeholders/colleagues in other vehicles, the ANPR helpdesk and members of the general public.
- Be able to work well independently and maintain personal drive and motivation.
- Comfortable to Lone work and have the ability to complete work with little or no supervision, prioritising own work.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
- Good organisation and time management skills.
