We are responsible for the entire range of children’s education, health and social care services in all three boroughs. We use a Signs of Safety practice model and approach which ensures the voice of the child is at the heart of everything we do. Hope House is a children's home, we look after up to five children aged 10-17 years who have experienced significant trauma in their early lives. Providing therapeutic day to day care of children and young people that is grounded firmly within the Secure Base model.

The young people we look after have experienced significant trauma which requires high levels of compassion, empathy, resilience and understanding and we have a responsibility to make them feel safe and cared for.

**This role requires shift work across 7 days a week over the full year, including Christmas, New Year and other bank holidays. There is a sleep in requirement and waking night shifts which you will receive a sleep in allowance for in addition to your salary.**

**This is a permanent position working an average of 36 hours a week.**

About the role

You will promote positive attachments and relationships, working within the wider framework of professionals and families in order to understand a child’s life experience and respond and act in ways that improve a child’s opportunities and potential. You will work directly with children providing the best quality of personalised care that meets their needs whilst working part of a team that provides warmth, nurture and care for very vulnerable young people.

As a Therapeutic Intervention Worker you will be responsible for:

- Recognising signs of abuse and trauma and dealing with safeguarding issues appropriately when they arise
- Recognising and dealing with conflict and challenging behaviours and situations with young people
- Following risk assessments to keep children safe
- Direct therapeutic work with children and young people
- Work within a Secure Base therapeutic framework
- As well as working with the children, completing household chores

About you

You will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people as well as demonstrating the following points:

- Diploma level 3 in caring for children and young people is desirable (desirable)
- Personal determination, drive, energy and ambition to overcome obstacles, achieve challenging objectives, celebrate success and deliver excellent outcomes for children
- Ability to engage appropriately with young people and develop rapport
- Have a resilience and ability to cope with the extreme pressures of working in a trauma focused, therapeutic residential childcare setting
- Self aware to your own triggers
