Medical Typist

**Greater Lancashire Hospital is currently seeking an experienced Medical Typist (Bank). Previous experience of medical audio typing is essential for the role.**

**Key relationships**: Medical consultants and Great Lancashire Hospital Admin staff

**This is a zero-hours (bank) contract where you will be working a variety of hours as agreed with yourself in advance.**

**Responsibilities**
- To be responsible for audio typing following clinical investigation
- The successful applicant must possess a minimum of 60 WPM
- The post-holder will be expected to ensure all relevant clinic dictation is typed within the appropriate timescales as determined by the Director
- Transcribing from digital dictation, outpatient clinic letters and inpatients details to a high standard within specified timescales
- Correctly identify speakers throughout lengthy recordings
- Ensuring consultant validate clinical letters within an acceptable timescale
- Work well as part of a team to ensure a high quality standard is maintained at all times
- Promote an open friendly working environment
- Adhere to Greater Lancashire Hospital policies and procedures relevant to your position
- Attend mandatory training sessions where applicable
- Participate in a Personal Development Plan

**Skills and Knowledge**
- Ability to multitask
- Proven work experience as a medical typist
- Ability to search for information specific to the specialty they are typing for
- Fantastic command over language
- Experience with Olympus dictation desirable but not essential
- Excellent attention to detail to spot grammar, spelling and punctuation errors
- Experience using computer software packages i.e Microsoft 365
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology is desirable
