**Traincare Operative - Newcastle**

We are seeking to recruit a Traincare Operative on a fixed-term contract until December 2025. Reporting to the Fleet
Duty Manager, this role will require working 36 hours per week on a permanent nightshift roster, including Bank
Holidays and weekends. The position will primarily be based at the Gosforth Depot but may involve working on the system during emergency situations to facilitate the cleaning of Metrocars/Locos.

As a Traincare Operative, you will be responsible for delivering the Service Quality Regime standards to the prescribed levels, efficiently and effectively, using appropriate materials and cleaning agents. Your responsibilities will encompass the cleaning of Metro Rolling Stock, Maintenance Equipment, and Depot Facilities. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Traincare Leading Hand to implement improvements and handle soaps, detergents, and other chemicals while adhering to COSHH regulations

**Your duties will include**:
**Personnel**
- Work a roster focussed on delivering SQR targets, including Bank Holidays and weekends where required.
- Delivering Service Quality Regime standards to the levels instructed and trained, ensuring completion in an efficient and effective manner with appropriate materials and cleaning agents.
- Liaising with Train Care Lead Hand and other Traincare Operatives to continuously deliver improvements to Traincare processes, facilities, materials and cleaning machines.
- Primarily be based at Gosforth Depot but will work on the system in Emergency situations to facilitate the cleaning of Metro cars/Locos etc.
- Responsible for the cleaning of Metro Rolling Stock, Maintenance Equipment, Depot Facilities, Buildings and Offices.
- Duties include working to Cleaning Maintenance Programmes using water, soaps, detergents and other chemicals.
- Complying with COSHH regulations.

**Organisational**
- Utilise any cleaning equipment to assist in Train Care duties and to improve quality and productivity.
- Comply with all relevant safety rules, Work instructions, Safe Systems of Works and Fleet Duty Manager’s/Train Care
- Leading Hand’s/Engineer’s instructions.
- Safely train Apprentices and other staff members on the full range of their duties as required/instructed.
- Assist in the preparation of Safe Systems of Work, Rule Changes, Risk Assessments and carry out Safety Management checks as required.
- Assist non-Engineering Group staff in duties carried out on rolling stock or in Gosforth Depot.
- Compile accurate examination sheets, modification records, and other relevant documentation - utilising appropriate IT systems or relevant paper based documents.
- Carry out any duties trained and deemed competent to perform including driving Fork Lift trucks when needed, as part of Train Care duties.
- Other duties eg slinging and movement of equipment as required in relation to Train Care material movement.
- Contribute to Depot upkeep and take responsibility for cleanliness and environmental obligations on the Depot
- Participate in any Service Quality Regime work that may be required.
- Carry out any Tasks as shown in the Engineering Agreement Skills Matrix where the Train Care Operative is trained and deemed competent.

- Drivers license
- Experience of Rolling Stock
