**Regional Operations Manager (12-month FTC)**

We currently have a 12-month fixed term/secondment opportunity for a Regional Operational Manager in the Yorkshire region to join our Customer Field Services department within the Wastewater Service Delivery Business Unit, where you live will determine theoperational site you will work from. The role is a flexible hybrid working arrangement with an expectation that some time will be spent working from the operational depot where the team operates.

**What will the role involve?**

As a Regional Operations Manager, you will be accountable for a geographical area working to ensure safety and improving customer service across the Yorkshire region. The role will lead a large team to ensure that our wastewater network is operating to drivezero customer and environmental impacting failures through effective management and monitoring of resources. This includes contractors and processes against performance indicators within agreed internal SLA’s, regulatory and budget targets.

The Regional Operations Manager will also work with wider Customer Field Services Management Team to develop and implement local plans in line with business strategy to drive field operations to outperform operational targets and customer service consistencyacross the regions

The Regional Operations Manager will drive and deliver industry leading customer service and operational excellence in line with the required Yorkshire Water business performance by demonstrating relentless drive, energy, and determination to deliver sustainableoutperformance for YW that rigorously achieves against demanding competitive industry benchmarks.

You will provide focused leadership to a multi skilled field-based workforce across a wide geography in the pursuit of an efficient same day solution for customers and the environment along with effective delivery of planned repair and maintenance activitieson the wastewater network. This role will be fundamental to success in ensuring ongoing safe operating procedures and continual improvement of all processes and work activities.

You will lead and drive excellent standards and behaviours in health and safety, risk management and the control of work activities. Ensuring in-house and contracted work is compliant with the YW Safety Policy and 'life saving rules’ programme.

You will be responsible for driving and embedding a culture of "Every Customer Counts" and setting clear expectations for customer service through effective direction, delegation and living the corporate customer ethos. You will lead and drive business changeinitiatives specific to wastewater systems and its service to our customer.

You will ensure that robust financial management and commercial awareness form the foundation of all business decisions, aligning all field plans with team and company strategic direction. Management and delivery of required financial performance (both OPEXand CAPEX) to meet business planning, resource, and budget management for field-based teams.

**Knowledge and skills required**

It is a requirement of the role to have a Management qualification / Degree in relevant technical discipline or have extensive experience in the utility/water industry - and will be highly competent in leading large operational teams.

The successful applicant will have a strong customer focus, be a dynamic, passionate, and experienced people leader with proven success in leading large operational teams, who is able to demonstrate a track record of achieving against challenging targets.

You will have experience of Health and Safety Management processes and procedures. It is a requirement of the role that you will be Health and Safety trained, preferably NEBOSH but minimum IOSH qualified.

It is essential for the successful applicant to have a proactive business approach, and experience of strategic thinking, establishing clear strategic direction of developing and implementing business strategies and plans.

The successful applicant will have experience of business planning, resource and budget management and delivering business targets through previous leadership positions.

You will have experience of leading or embedding change with the ability to influence and drive the right cultures and behaviours.

It is essential that you have strong influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to gain commitment from senior stakeholders.

Travel is required as part of this role; therefore, a full valid driving licence (with no more than 6 points) is a requirement of this role.

Yorkshire Water is a 24/7 Operation; therefore, flexibility is a requirement of this role. Once fully trained, you will be required to participate in an out of hours management stand-by rota.

Ideally you will have a good understanding of sewer networks, common failure modes and solutions, knowledge of incident management, regulatory measures, particularly Pollutions, Internal Flooding, External Flooding, Stability and Reliability, CMEX and associatedresponse times.
