**Job Description** - Support Worker

**Location**: Leicester, 43 Melton Street, LE1 3NB

**Line Manager**: Case Manager

**Salary**: £12.25ph for 26.5 hours per week - 9am - 3pm (Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri) & 9am - 1pm alternate Saturdays. 6 month Fixed Term Contract (might be scope to extend depending on need identified & available funding.)

**Description of Organisation**

The Bridge is a charity working with the homeless and hardest to reach in Leicester. We have various projects which provide support, advice, guidance, food and clothing to anyone who walks through our doors in need. We are an organisation with many volunteers and a vision to provide everyone in Leicester a place to call home and hope for the future. We work within a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) framework.

**Main Purpose**
Last year we saw a 21% average footfall increase through our Day Centre and quarter 1 has shown a further average increase of 18%.

To support the team to deliver the essential services over this period, particularly spanning the holiday season, we require a dedicated person who is keen to make a difference and would like to work in this fast-paced environment.

Working solely in our Hub space, alongside our brilliant volunteers and staff, you will be in contact with our daily guests (service users), supervising the space and supporting guests with accessing basic services, including access to washing facilities, showers, breakfast and hot drinks. You will adopt a non-judgemental, warm but professional approach, helping guests to reduce their social isolation.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

▪ **Facilitating the opening of our Hub Space. **You will work alongside our dedicated volunteers and staff to be a constant presence in our Hub during our core opening hours. This will include opening up The Bridge in the morning, ensuring the Hub is ready to receive guests, and closing the space at the end of the session.

▪ **Signposting guests to relevant staff member. **Where appropriate, it will also be your responsibility to pass guests on to the relevant staff member for further help and support the staff member with this support where necessary.

▪ **Record Keeping and Evaluation.** You will ensure that accurate records are entered onto our CRM system in a timely manner and use this data to monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of the role.

▪ **Policies and Procedures updates. **All policies and procedures relating to volunteering must be kept up-to-date, reviewed and adhered to. You will be the lead on all matters related.

▪ - **Support the Wider Operations of the Charity. **Where necessary, you will undertake any other reasonable duties to ensure and support the day-to-day operations of the charity.

**Person Specification Experience, Knowledge and Understanding**:

Experience of working with vulnerable adults

Understanding of good practice in safeguarding vulnerable adults

IT Skills

Working in partnership with other agencies, teams and individuals

Understanding of Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) framework

**Ability/Skills**
