**Cadet Leader**:
**Do you have experience working with children?**

**Could you help us to inspire our police cadets to fulfil their potential?**

Here are Northumbria Police we have been recruiting cadets for over 12 years. Our established volunteer scheme is a chance for young people from all backgrounds to take part in activities and be part of something unique.

We have a fantastic opportunity to support our programme as an Assistant Cadet Leader.

We are looking for volunteers to help us inspire our cadets, supervise them in their duties and ensure the smooth running of our weekly sessions. You will get involved in various activities, ensuring our scheme is the best it can be in representing our local community.

**In order to volunteer in this role, you will need to;**
- Be 18 or over
- Have lived in the UK for 3 years
- Have a good level of resilience and patience, as our cadets are between the ages of 13 - 18 years old.

We want to provide a great service to our young people; therefore, you will need to be passionate about helping others and able to communicate effectively. If you have these skills, we will ensure you receive support and training from experienced officers and staff that will help you become a great Assistant Cadet Leader.

This is a great chance to do something different from the norm - and most importantly, you do not need to come from a policing background to join us. If you have experience of working with young people, whether that be through a previous volunteer role or in a professional capacity - we would love to hear from you

- The Safer recruitment process is designed to assist Northumbria Police in making sure their VPC Leaders are suitable to work with children and young people. It is a vital part of creating a safe culture and positive environment and making a commitment to keep Cadets safe from harm._
- As a Force assessing applicants’ suitability for positions which are included in the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order and using criminal record checks processed through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), VPC complies fully with the code of practice and undertakes to treat all applicants for positions fairly._
