Skipper

Number Seven Boat Trips are seeking a skilled and experienced Skipper to join our team. As a Skipper, you will be responsible for safely operating and navigating a vessel, ensuring the safety of passengers, and providing an enjoyable experience on the water within Bristol Floating Harbour. If you have a passion for boating and excellent customer service skills, we would love to hear from you.

Must have:

- Valid Boatmasters License or a Power Boat Level 2 with Commercial Endorsement
- Experience as a Skipper or boat operator
- Having a VHF license would be helpful but we can put you on a course for this if needed.
- knowledge of navigation techniques, rules, and regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle emergency situations effectively
- Good physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions
- Customer service-oriented mindset
- Passenger safety is our main priority therefore we would like you to have/complete a personal surviva/ water safety, fire safety and first aid training course taking 3 days to complete.

General Duties
- Safely operate and navigate a vessel, following all safety protocols and regulations
- Provide exceptional customer service to passengers, ensuring their comfort and enjoyment
- Give Short safety briefings and provide instructions on emergency procedures if needed
- Monitor weather conditions and adjust plans/routes accordingly to ensure passenger safety
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the vessel
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking
- Handle any emergencies or incidents that may arise during the trip

The job itself is to pilot a 12 seater passenger boat, crossing from one side of the harbour to the other. This being the Cross Harbour service.

Cross harbour shifts are split throughout the day to Friday between 2 drivers.

Shift 1: 07:15am - 13:00pm

Shift 2: 13:00pm - 18:30pm

Saturdays and Sunday are a full day shift from

10:15am - 17:45pm

If you hold a boatmasters license you will also be the skipper for public and private (including stag and hen parties) boat trips around the harbour.

Public trips are 40 minute circuit trips around the harbour which start at 10am and finish around 5pm.

Private trips are booking that can vary from a 1 way transfer and 2 - 3hr booze cruises or commentary tours. On a booze cruise you can have 1 or 2 40 minute pub stops within the booking time where you will land at certain landing stages throughout the harbour and crew will assist passengers with directions to pubs. The hours will vary and it is weekend work, throughout the summer shifts can finish around 11pm in the evening.

This job is seasonal and the will be more private and public work throughout the summer along side the Cross Harbour; through autumn and winter we will run the cross harbour and do maintenance on the boats.

Competitive wage and work is based on a 40hr week.
