**Tenancy Support Officer Job Specification**

New Pastures Housing is a charity who are committed to supporting people with a housing need across the Midlands.

**Purpose of the Role**

Every aspect of the role will maintain a person-centered approach that supports and coaches the service user.
- To be part of a team managing accommodation, providing safe and secure environments for tenants to thrive and succeed.
- To be flexible, self-motivated and able to manage own work load. You will also be required to keep accurate and up to date records.
- We are looking for someone who is non-judgmental, can assist people with presenting needs, and signpost on to appropriate services when required.
- To work to build links with the Local Authority Housing Options Teams and other organisations to promote the work New Pastures is doing.

**Key Responsibilities**
- You will carry out a full risk assessment and Support Needs Assessment for all potential tenants
- You will work with tenants to agree actions of support that will help them to sustain their tenancy and allow them to live independently.
- Support tenants to engage with both internal and external agencies to access services. You will help them to develop skills that will assist in their support plans and help them achieve their goals.
- Monitor and evaluate progress and review and adapt support plan as required to help tenants achieve positive outcomes.
- Be compliant to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults within the legal framework.
- Promote equality and diversity and encourage tenant involvement.
- Ensure all work is recorded accurately and is up to date.
- Continuously operate within all employment, customer and organisational policies and procedures.
- Attend meetings as required to support organisational activities, and work with other colleagues to achieve role objectives.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of current issues of legislation and best practice regarding, Homelessness and Welfare Benefits.
- Support tenant to attend meetings with other organisations and multi-agency teams as required.

**Lone Working**
- Operate independently within a housing scheme with complete ownership of the scheme and the clients within it
- Be fully accountable for the development of their client caseload

**Quality & Monitoring**
- Demonstrate a relentless drive to go above and beyond for our client.
- A willingness to venture outside of your personal role and responsibilities to get the job done from time to time.
- Meet agreed service and role objectives
- Ensure quality customer service and support.

**Experience**

**Essentia**l**
- A minimum of 12 months experience of working with adults with complex needs, experience of working with homelessness, domestic abuse, mental and or physical health, substance or alcohol use.
- The ability to be self-motivated when working alone/remotely
- Experience of managing and reporting safeguarding concerns.

**Desirable**
- The ability to keep accurate and up to date records (preferably on a CRM database system)
- Some experience of working to deadlines and practices to achieve objectives
- Experience of risk management and assessment, regarding individuals, situations and activities.
- Experience of delivering support to tenants and recognising individual needs.

**Knowledge**

**Essential**
- Some experience of understanding the causes and effects of homelessness
- To understand the barrier’s customers, face when trying to access services
- To have knowledge or an understanding of the Welfare benefits system, Mental Health, Addiction and Homelessness.
- An awareness of the importance of confidentiality and data protection.

**Skills**
- The ability to work under pressure when situations change and to meet deadlines
- To recognise and work within professional boundaries
- To be non-judgmental in your approach
- To be able to work effectively with other agencies, developing networks to enable effective planning.
- Have good communication and listening skills
- The ability to be flexible and adapt to the tenants changing needs
- The ability to work outside of normal hours if required, attending meetings and travelling.

**Qualifications**
- Literacy and numeracy to G.C.S.E level
- Housing /Support related qualification is preferable

**Additional requirements**:

- Full UK Driving Licence and use of own vehicle, insured for business use.
- A car allowance of £275 per month will be paid along with reimbursement of business mileage and business related expenses.
