About the role
With over 220,000 books and manuscripts dating from the 4th century BCE to the 21st century, the size and breadth of the Royal Library offer a truly unique working environment.
Joining our dedicated Library team, you’ll support the significant and wide-ranging project of cataloguing library material relating to Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh.
Reporting into our Curator of Books and Manuscripts, you’ll take on a variety of activities.
Working with colleagues across Royal Collection Trust, you’ll also identify any conservation, handling and storage needs for the books.
The scale of the project will provide opportunities to grow your skills and knowledge. Ensuring this important collection is cared for and protected into the future will drive you.

About you
With a professional library qualification or experience of cataloguing material in historic libraries, you’ll be looking to develop your career further. Experience of using MARC21 and AACR2 systems/cataloguing formats would be an advantage. You’ll also be familiar with conservation issues and the challenges of working with books and manuscripts in historic buildings.
As an effective communicator, you will be able to build positive relationships with colleagues across the organisation.
Being logical and systematic in your approach, you're a good problem solver, able to work through challenges and find solutions in your daily role.
Finally, you’ll enjoy learning from and working as part of a team to deliver exceptional results.
