We are seeking to appoint a full-time gardener to join our team of six working in the Grounds Department, based at Worth School. The team work across Worth School and Worth Abbey sites.

**As a Grounds Assistant, your responsibilities would include**:

- Day to Day care and maintenance of gardens
- Carry out an agreed annual programme of maintenance work, to maintain the gardens to an agreed standard
- Provide knowledge and advice relating to all aspects of the garden including pruning, taking, feeding, and spraying
- Regularly inspect any garden structures and undertake minor repairs where required, or advise relevant management
- Operate and maintain various items of grounds maintenance equipment with due regard to safety procedures and checks
- Maintain and enhance the external image of the School and Abbey, via monitoring and removal of litter, sweeping of pedestrian areas, and general upkeep maintenance

A flexible approach to working hours is needed - as there is some requirement to work early mornings and evenings. Due to the physically demanding nature of the role, a good level of physical fitness is recommended.

**What we are looking for**:

- Experience of working as a Gardener in any setting, including experience in line with the above responsibilities.
- Good communication skills
- Attention to detail and working to a high standard
- Ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a team
- NVQ level 2 in Horticulture or equivalent qualification.
- Full UK Driving Licence

**What is also desirable**:

- Experience of working in an educational setting previously
- A PA1/PA6 spraying certificate
