Grounds Maintenance Apprentice

Continental Landscapes has an exciting opportunity for an apprentice (Horticulture Level 2) to join our team performing grounds maintenance operations in the London Borough of Brent. This a great opportunity to join an established specialist green services Company.

Working in a friendly supportive environment, you will have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of horticultural services including, shrub bed maintenance and pruning, hedge cutting, sports pitch maintenance and preparation, grass cutting, cleansing, events preparation, wildflower meadow maintenance and ecological grass maintenance, developing a wide-range of skills as a foundation for a rewarding career.

No previous experience is necessary, but you will need to have a flexible, ‘can do’ attitude. The apprenticeship will take approximately 2-years and once completed you may have the opportunity to move into a permanent position. Training will be run in conjunction with Capel Manor College and you will we required to attend college for one day per week at Enfield, Gunnersbury Park or Regents Park campuses.

Course activities will include:

- Periodic visits to the workplace by an Assessor who will review your progress along with your Line Manager
- Additional support should you need help with English and maths, through attendance at extra classes (block weeks) to achieve functional skills
- As well as time in college, extra-curricular jobs you will carry out include stimulated tests, practical training and using an e-portfolio Smart Assessor to gather and upload evidence.
- Also included in the apprenticeship are PA1 and PA6 pesticides courses and assessments and one day Emergency First Aid at Work Course
- An End-point Assessment will be completed by a Registered Assessment Organisation (LANTRA) to assess your knowledge and practical skills and verify that you have fulfilled the requirements of the apprenticeship

This is a full-time post working 36 hours a week including 1 day a week attendance at Capel Manor College. Rate of pay will £12.00 per hour.
