TJ Hughes is currently recruiting for an Import Shipping/Accounts Clerk to join the finance team based at our Head Office in Liverpool

**This is a full-time salaried role working Monday to Friday, 38.75 hours per week.**

**The Role**

To take responsibility and manage the day to day import shipping for the organisation by arranging movement of goods and import shipments ensuring the company complies with all UK import regulations. This role also involves working within the Accounts Team in a variety of roles, mainly in purchasing and expenses.

**Responsibilities**
- Liaise with freight agents and courier companies for quotes, queries and issues relating to the movement of shipments
- Obtain and compare quotes to ensure the best serve level and competitive rates are achieved
- Maintain HMRC records
- Generation of all shipping documentation ensuring that rules and regulations are adhered to and followed
- Monitor shipments to ensure on time delivery is achieved
- Keep import log up to date
- Liaise with internal buying department on a daily basis to keep the orders schedule up to date with current status
- Keep up to date with customs control regimes
- Check shipping invoices received are correct for payment
- Verify and calculate the final cost for imported goods by filling out purchase order costing sheets.
- Process invoices, reconciling delivery notes to invoices received and purchase orders
- Monthly reconciliation of supplier statements
- Coding, batching and matching of invoices to ensure financial reporting completeness
- Ad hoc duties to support the department/business

**Required Skills**:

- Prior experience in shipping, logistics, customs, shipping processes and documentation
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Accounts experience
- Proficient computer skills, especially excel
- Good attention to detail
