We have an excellent opportunity for a tool maker / man mill engineer to work located in Yatton, Bristol. The site is easily accesible via public transport.
In this role you will be required to work in a tool room on a variety of machines such as 3 axis Bridgeport mills and lathes to produce components for tooling manufacture. In this role you will assist with various aspects of the development, design and manufactureof a range of tooling systems.
You will be responsible for working with CAD designers to ensure designs and systems are fit for purpose and that the function and reliability standards are maintained.
The shift can be flexible to your needs: 6-2pm / 7-3pm / 8-4pm / 9-5pm Monday to Friday.
Main Duties: Job Specific Tasks
- Assisting with tooling designs for prototypes and developing existing builds.
- Working with CAD technicians to design and develop tooling systems.
- Testing and improving punch tool designs.
- Monitoring tooling assembly builds to ensure quality.
- Monitoring and improving processes.
- Studying work orders, drawings and making controlled alterations to assist with tooling
- development.
- Working to set procedures and tolerances.
- Maintain continuity among colleagues by documenting, reporting and communicating on
- actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
- Work and liaise with various departments and external suppliers in the development of tooling
- systems.
- Using machines such as Bridgeport mills, XYZ lathes to produce quality machined parts, fixtures
- and tooling

Key attributes:

- Experience in the manufacture of tooling using manual milling systems.
- Formal engineering qualification or time served apprenticeship preferred.
- Press tool and jig manufacturing experience.

Main Duties: Health & Safety
- To assist with ensuring Health and Safety documentation is completed and up to date
- To adhere to all policies set out by the business.

- To immediately correct or report any identified hazard and ensure that near misses & accident investigations are reviewed and that action is taken as soon as possible in order to eliminate or reduce risk and communicate significant remedies to other managersthat may benefit

- Maintain personal standards of dress in line with policy and conduct yourself in a professional manner to all staff, customers and visitors.

- To ensure all relevant checks and paperwork are completed.
- To ensure all databases are kept up to date.

- Monitor and measure quality issues reducing sub-standard product

- Ensure quality standards are achieved and maintained throughout the department.
