Paediatric Consultant with Neonatal Interest

Northampton, United Kingdom Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust Full time

Consultant paediatrician with a Neonatal Interest

This is an exciting opportunity to join the neonatal team working on our Level 2 Local Neonatal Unit (LNU).

We are looking for two applicants to fill substantive posts, both 10PA positions.

Recruitment to these posts will enable the delivery of 1 in 6 Neonatal on-call rota. 7 substantive consultants will provide a ‘Neonatal Consultant of the week’ service. Neonatal on-call will be divided amongst all 7 consultants.

A new 10PA appointee could expect to work on average 4 days/week and be on call 1 in 6. We provide 24-hour neonatal consultant and Tier 1 cover separate from general paediatrics. We are currently recruiting to enable the expansion of the tier 2 rota and provide a dedicated neonatal registrar 24/7. There will be no requirement to undertake general paediatrics on-call.

Additional direct clinical care will include neonatal follow-up clinics, general paediatric outpatients, and daytime consultant cover for our general paediatric admissions unit. Whilst a neonatal special interest is essential, an additional general paediatric special interest complementing the needs of the department would be welcome. You will be expected to use some of the supporting professional activities for this post to support neonatal service development.

Northampton General Hospital is one of the largest employers in the area and we are on an exciting journey. All of our divisions are committed to doing things better, with more efficiency as we update, modernise, and advance. We have also entered into a Group Model with neighbouring Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and become University Hospitals of Northamptonshire.
