The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

We are a team of around 400 people and combine our Newcastle upon Tyne and London operations with a local presence around the English coastline in Brixham, Beverley, Harwich, Hastings, Lowestoft, North Shields, Hayle, Plymouth, Poole, Portsmouth, Preston, Scarborough, Shoreham, Whitehaven.

This advertised vacancy is for four different roles within the MMO Marine Planning Team and Sustainable Renewables Unit:
2 x Marine Planner (East)

1 x Marine Planner (South)

1 x Offshore Wind Support Adviser

**Marine Planner (East and South)**

In April 2014 the Secretary of State adopted the first ever marine plans for the East Inshore and Offshore marine plan areas. Marine plans for the South Inshore and Offshore marine plan areas followed in 2018. In June 2021 the Government adopted and published the North East, North West, South East and South West Marine Plans. This means for the first time, England has a complete and integrated marine planning framework to manage how we use, develop, protect and enhance our marine environment. Marine Plans will guide developers, planning authorities and other decision-makers so that their activities happen in a sustainable and coordinated way.

Reporting to the Higher Executive Officer (HEO), the post holder(s) will contribute to the production, implementation and monitoring of marine plans for England. They will deliver marine planning tasks as directed by the Marine Planner HEO, working with the other Marine Planners to ensure task integration.

**Offshore Wind Support Adviser**

One Offshore Wind Support Adviser role is available within the Strategic Renewables Unit (SRU). The SRU sits across the Marine Planning and Marine Licensing teams within the wider Marine Development Directorate. The role will focus on supporting the strategic approach to offshore renewable energy.

The post holder will support the SRU’s vision and objectives to support deployment of sustainable offshore renewables. Reporting to Higher Executive Officers (HEOs), you will be involved with key topics to support delivery of the British Energy Security Strategy which are likely to include at least one of the following themes, data, compensation, strategic monitoring, and environmental standards. You will work closely with colleagues within and outside of the MMO including engagement with a wide range of stakeholders to include Government Departments, environmental NGOs, and industry.
