Kitchen Assistant/housekeeper

**Hours of Work**:

- 18 hours per week (3 days per week)
- 10am to 4pm (6x hours)

**OR**
- 21 hours per week (3 days per week)
- 9am to 4.30pm (7x hours with half an hour break).

You must be able to work alternate weekends and be flexible with the days of the week. Overtime available to cover leave or absence.

£10 per hour

Baldock Manor Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Kitchen Assistant/Cleaner to provide high-quality catering, dining and housekeeping services to patients, guests and visitors. The two main purposes of the job role are to maintain a hygienic and safe environment in the Kitchen and clean wards/communal areas of the hospital.

You will spend a significant majority of your working day in the Kitchen. You will work as part of the wider Housekeeping team which consists of Head Housekeeping, Cleaners and Kitchen Assistants.

**About Baldock Manor Hospital**:Baldock Manor Hospital is our 42-bed mental health hospital based in Baldock, offering a range of specialist services for both men and women. At our hospital, we have a female PICU and two high-dependency units, one for older men and one for older ladies.

**Essential Skills / Responsibilities**:

- Prepare simple meals i.e. sandwiches, vegetables, hospitality and salad items as required.
- Prepare ancillary items for services such as breakfast items and drinks.
- Ensure the main kitchen and the satellite kitchens are kept clean and hygienic.
- To provide a cleaning service in accordance with approved methods and standards.
- To use cleaning equipment, machinery and cleaning materials as directed.
- Comply with company policy in terms of Food Safety and Health and Safety regulations, accurately completing and storing all records.
- Ordering meals from the catering provider using a rolling menu.
- Receive, temperature check and store appropriately food deliveries
- Preparation and presentation of simple and modified diets
- Customer service experience
- Multi-tasker
- Ability to follow schedules and complete necessary paperwork
- Must hold high hygiene standards
- Able to manage own time and work independently
