**What we’re looking for**:
Peabody are looking for a lived experience Peer Worker who will draw on personal experiences of homelessness, supporting customers to develop a sense of hope, confidence and acceptance by sharing personal experiences.

**Do you have;**
- Lived experience of being homeless or at risk of homelessness whilst being in the criminal justice system and coping with mental health difficulties?

**Are you;**
- Able to speak with customers and team members open and honestly about personal experiences, sharing barriers that you have overcome;
- Passionate about making a real difference to people’s lives, and supporting them to be as independent, safe, healthy and happy as they possibly can be;
- Kind with empathy and respect the individual characteristics and needs of a very diverse range of customers;

**A bit about the role**:
As a Peer Worker you will be a positive role model demonstrating the possibilities of overcoming homelessness and juggling multiple support needs. Working within the outreach team you will share valuable insight from the customer viewpoint. Provide emotional support to customers and help model future services.. Some of the key results for the role include:
The Essex Outreach Service offers free, short term help to people aged over 16 who need support around their housing. We provide advice and guidance to help people feel more confident and able to manage independently. The support includes help with housing and homelessness issues, rent arrears, benefit claims and advice, help with managing money and budgeting, employment, training and volunteering opportunities. Support for drug and alcohol problems, getting support with mental health and accessing care and support services in Essex for health and wellbeing.

The lived experience peer worker will draw on personal experiences of homelessness, supporting customers to develop a sense of hope, confidence and acceptance by sharing personal experiences. The peer worker will support the outreach workers to engage and help customers when working with multiple agencies around offending behaviour, victims of crime, and mental health when homeless or at risk of homelessness. They will also help shape future service delivery for customers of multiple disadvantage.

**_ This role will require an Enhanced DBS check._**
