Purchasing Manager

Our client has an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiasm to join our Purchasing Team.You will report directly to the MD and be responsible for the supply of goods and services across the business.

Leading and developing the purchasing process whilst delivering a first class customer service to internal and external customers and suppliers.The business is currently updating their eRP system, therefore a knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics /BC is desirable.It is expected that this will allow the new Purchasing Manager the opportunity to develop and deploy a modern electronic purchasing system including MRP.

Duties will include:

- Understand buying both products and components from the UK and offshore
- To locate new suppliers and develop the current ones
- As an ISO registered company you will need to ensure full compliance
- Work with the technical team on developing new suppliers, products and components
- Engage with different functional areas in the UK to provide a comprehensive buying service including lead times and stock availability
- To manage purchase planning/stock holding levels (including redundant stock) to meet the agreed company targets
- In partnership with the accounts team to manage trading terms
- Manage and train a small team
- Take ownership of all aspects of purchasing
- Background in manufacturing would be advantageous
- A commitment to continuous improvement
- Effective communications skills and the ability to influence and motivate others
- Experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures and strategies to achieve the best results
- If you have some engineering knowledge would be desirable
