Trauma Informed Schools Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Children’s Integration Team within Public Health Leicestershire. The aim of the role is to support us in our mission to promote a trauma-sensitive community and build resilience throughout Leicestershire. Supporting our schools to become trauma sensitive will reduce the effect of trauma on individuals, families and communities and prevent re-traumatisation within the school setting. Main duties within the role includes;
- Supporting the Trauma Informed Practice (TIP) Leads across the council to embed Trauma Informed Practice across schools in addition to supporting settings to adopt a whole school’s approach.
- To work with partners and stakeholders across Leicestershire to identify key areas and stakeholders where additional support is required; such as SEND and the Armed forces covenant and the Leicestershire Education Effectiveness Partnership.
- To work with the Children and Family Service and Public Health to develop a referral pathway where the work of the TIP Schools’ Officer can complement the work of the Teen Health Service.

**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Developing, facilitating and leading partnership working to ensure an integrated and connected approach to health improvement activities and interventions.
- Experience of aiding design, delivery and implementation of health improvement programmes.
- Project planning and experience of managing multiple projects running simultaneously.
- Working successfully in an environment requiring extensive liaison, such as across partnerships or within large complex organisations.
- Experience of using social media and website management and working with external providers
- Experience of monitoring and evaluation of projects and using findings to improve service delivery.
- Experience of front-line practice in either case or group work with children and families
- Experienced of engaging with young people who are vulnerable or face additional barriers to accessing support (sometimes labelled as ‘hard-to-reach').
- Negotiating and communicating with a range of local authorities and stakeholders, with the resilience and ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Experience of organising and facilitating training and upskilling sessions with a focus on impacting local decision and action.
- Experience of presenting information in a variety of formats relevant to audience needs.
- Experience of working autonomously
- Knowledge of young people and their health needs
- Knowledge of the impact of trauma and how this has adverse effects on young people
- Knowledge and experience of working with partners and policy issues and legislation related to children and young people
- Knowledge and awareness of Safeguarding procedures and the experience of developing a plan of care to safeguard an adult or child
- Knowledge and understanding of Health Inequalities as a result of trauma, especially in relation to children and young people
- Good understanding of the school and education system and the understanding of the principles of behaviour change
- Excellent IT skills, including the use of social media
- The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as under own initiative
- Ability to work collaboratively to support cross service and partnership working
- Self-motivated, proactive, and innovative
- Have strong organisational skills with the ability to work on own initiative and within delegated responsibility.
- Ability to motivate partners to work together effectively for change
- Prioritising and managing own workload whilst delivering quality results to tight deadlines.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data and draw conclusions and recommendations based on data
