Belper, United Kingdom Classroom Recruiters Full time

**Join Our Team as an EBD Teaching Assistant**

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties (EBD)? We’re looking for an exceptional EBD Teaching Assistant to join our team immediately. This is your chance to significantly impact a child’s life at an innovative and nurturing school in **Belper and its surrounding areas**.

**Salary: £18,000 - £21,000 **pro rata

**The Role**
- 1:1 Support: You will work closely with a child who has EBD, providing individualized support to help them thrive in a mainstream school environment. Your relationship with the child will be crucial in understanding and meeting their unique needs.
- Small Class Setting: You’ll be part of a small class with an outstanding teacher who is adept at adapting to each student's needs. This setting allows for more focused and personalized support.
- Inclusive Environment: The school’s excellent facilities and holistic approach create a welcoming and inclusive environment, allowing you to tailor your approach to meet the child’s needs effectively.
- Full-Time Commitment: This is a full-time role, running from Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 15:30, with the possibility of extending through to September.

We’re seeking someone with the right mix of experience, skills, and passion. Here’s what we’re looking for:

- Experience with EBD: Hands-on experience with children who have EBD is essential. You understand the complexities of these difficulties, including their impact on learning, behavior, and social interactions.
- SEN Strategies Knowledge: You should be well-versed in Special Educational Needs (SEN) strategies and interventions. Your ability to implement and adapt these strategies will be crucial in supporting the child’s emotional and behavioral development.
- Behavior Management Skills: Proficiency in managing and positively redirecting challenging behaviors is essential. You should be skilled in de-escalation techniques and reinforcing positive behaviors to create a supportive and safe learning environment.
- Empathy and Patience: These are non-negotiable qualities. Your deep understanding of the experiences and challenges faced by children with EBD will help you connect with the child, while your patience will enable you to support them through their development at their own pace.
- Adaptability and Creativity: You must be able to think on your feet and adapt your teaching methods. Creativity in your approach will help engage the child and facilitate their emotional and behavioral growth.
- Strong Communication Skills: Effective communication with the child, their family, and your colleagues is vital. Building a strong, collaborative network around the child will be essential for their progress.
- Experience with Complex Needs: While not essential, experience with children who have complex needs would be a significant bonus. This experience will equip you with a broader range of strategies and a deeper understanding of the varied challenges these children can face.
- Formal Qualifications: Ideally, you possess a Level 2 or above Teaching Assistant qualification or an equivalent. Your formal training will be instrumental in providing structured and effective support.

**Responsibilities**
- 1:1 Support: Build a trusting and effective working relationship with the child, understanding their unique needs and providing individualized support.
- Specialized EBD Experience: Utilize your experience working with children aged 4-11 years old who have Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties to adapt your strategies accordingly.
- SEN Strategies and Interventions: Implement and tailor a variety of strategies to support the child’s emotional and behavioral development, as well as their academic learning.
- Build Strong Relationships: Form meaningful connections with students, families, and colleagues. Effective and empathetic communication is key.
