**Full Time: 5 days, 40 hours per week**

We are working with a market leader in the highways term maintenance industry to recruit a Permit Officer.

Essex Highways (EH) oversees the management and upkeep of one of the nation's most extensive highway networks. EH operates as a dynamic partnership between Essex County Council (ECC), bringing together expertise and resources to ensure top-notch service delivery.

As part of this team, you'll collaborate closely with our contractual partner to execute essential highways services. Your responsibilities will include investigating and monitoring streetworks, as well as providing vital support in coordinating various resources. By optimising these efforts, you'll play a pivotal role in fulfilling our network management obligations and enhancing safety for all road users.

**The Role**
- Contribute to delivery of the Network Management Duty.
- To help in the operation of the Permit Scheme in accordance with Scheme Document and Section 3 of the Traffic Management Act.
- Assist the Senior Permit Officer and other Senior Officers to ensure delivery of the Essex Highways and Essex Permit Scheme objectives, as defined in agreed service plans, in accordance with all council and Essex Highways standards and policies.
- Assess and process Streetworks permits within requisite timescales and in accordance with good practice and legislation ensuring that the appropriate conditions are applied as necessary.
- Take ownership of your own workload whilst assisting with the team’s workload as capacity allows.

**About You**
- GCSE grades A-C/9-4 in Maths and English
