The well-established Cytogenetics laboratory team has recently moved into a brand new facility and is looking for an experienced cytogenetics scientist. They operate one of the largest conventional cytogenetics laboratories in Australia.
Responsibilities will include:

- Performing conventional cytogenetics: testing Cell culture, cell harvesting, G -banding and slide preparation, microscope scanning, chromosome analysis, Karyotyping and FISH analysis
- Contribute to validation, evaluation and documentation of new tests and assays.
- Assist with the preparation for NATA
- Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes.

This laboratory performs both FISH and Karyotyping. Experience in either will be highly regarded, opportunity for cross training possible.

Role requirements:

- Minimum 4 years experience in a clinical Cytogenetics laboratory
- Bachelor’s degree relevant to pathology or equivalent. Masters degree and/or MHGSA (human genetics society of Australasia), or the UK equivalent is highly desirable.
- Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities
- Display a high level of communication and well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
