A new exciting opportunity has arisen for a **Urgent Care Practitioner** to join our team at OneMedical Group, working for our **Urgent Care** sites in **Leeds**, which include **Shakespeare Walk-in-Centre** and **Co-Located Services** (**LGI** and **St James Hospital**). In times of extreme pressure, our urgent care team has successfully supported the three emergency departments within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to signpost patients to the correct care pathway and care giver. This collaboration has resulted in a better patient experience and reduction in pressure on A&E and the wider system.

This is a new role due to the growth of the service and an enhanced model of care.

In addition to clinical duties, the Emergency/ Urgent Care Practitioner / Paramedic Practitioner (ECP) role is accountable, in conjunction with the Operations Manager, for the clinical governance of and clinical management of patients presenting with an urgent care need, ensuring the service is safe and effective.
The post reports directly to the Operations Manager for professional leadership and operationally to the Service Coordinator, particularly in relation to the authorisation of any operational requests.

**The job holder's responsibilities will be**:

- To provide the full range of clinical duties based on patient needs and centre service offerings with a specific focus on minor illness and injuries
- To participate in providing a range of services in line with local and national enhanced services and generation of private income
- To escalate any clinical issues to the person in charge
- To support the implementation of the Clinical Strategy for OnePrimaryCare
- To support and contribute to a robust clinical governance programme

**The job holder must have the following knowledge, training and experience**:

- Registered with relevant professional body (NMC, HCPC, GPhC) Degree-level registration qualification or equivalent post-registration modules
- Autonomous practice experience supported with a level 7 Minor Illness or Injury qualification
- Non-medical prescribing qualification at level 7
- Life Support qualifications (or alternative profession specific clinically determined qualifications)
- Up to date clinical practice
- Substantial experience, post registration, in an acute/urgent care setting
- Experience of managing and treating minor illness in an acute/urgent care setting
- Confidence and ability to accurately assess and manage complex patient presentations to a high professional standard
- Experience of prioritising needs and informed decision making in care and delivery
- Direct supervision of junior staff, in all professional groups (desirable)
- Evidence of lead for or contribution to audit programmes within practice
- Experience of developing services which are based on assessed needs of patient groups

**About Leeds Urgent Care**

Alongside Shakespeare Walk-in Centre, the Co-Located Services are based within the three emergency departments within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The services are located either in or near to Leeds City Centre, has good public transport links and onsite parking.
