We are a small specialty coffee company that works across the coffee supply chain in order to deliver the best coffee for everyone. We do this by working directly with coffee producers in Peru and Bolivia, supporting them through education, communication and the prices paid for their coffee. We export this coffee to be sold in the UK. We also roast coffee in the UK so that we can deliver specialty coffee to wholesale and retail customers.

**About the role**

You will be based in our warehouse and have a key role in packing and dispatching coffee orders and assisting with the coffee roasting process. You to take ownership of the ‘key roles and tasks’ outlined below. There will also be scope for you to undertake the ‘other roles and tasks’ set out below, as those opportunities arise.

This is an entry level position, with an opportunity to learn about coffee if you desire. It is not suited to coffee professionals looking to develop further their career in coffee. Nor is it suited to someone who wishes to learn to roast coffee.

**Key roles and tasks**
- Packing coffee and dispatching orders in the warehouse (that is, packing, labeling and sealing coffee packs, and preparing coffee to be delivered to retail and wholesale customers).
- Cleaning the coffee roaster.
- Keeping the roastery clean (including: cleaning surfaces, vacuuming and mopping the floor.
- Preparing the coffee to be roasted.
- Preparing and cleaning other equipment and coffee-related materials.
- Day to day support in relation to roasting and dispatching orders.

**Other roles and tasks**
- Supporting with quality control exercises (such as “cupping” exercises (i.e., scoring coffees)).
- Supporting the roasting process from start to finish.

**Requirements**:

- Organisation and efficiency are key. You need to be able to plan and prioritise your specific tasks for the day.
- Being comfortable working alone, and with just one or two other persons.
- Ability to undertake physical work (including supporting one other person to lift 46kg coffee sacks).
- You need to be tidy and organised (and proactive when undertaking the roles and tasks set out above).
- You need to be productive and efficient.
- This is a repetitive job, therefore you need to be comfortable with steady routine.
- Winter is cold in the warehouse, so you must be comfortable working in different temperatures.
- Ideally (but not required), you have an interest in coffee and a desire to learn more.

**Other requirements**:

- Ability to travel to our coffee roasting studio and warehouse space in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
- Proof of the right to live and work in the UK

**Schedule**:

- Each shift will be a minimum of 4 hours.
- Shifts will be between the hours of 9am-7pm.
- Weekdays.

**Hourly rate**: £12 per hour.

On a daily basis, you will be working by yourself or directly with the company founder. As we are a small coffee company, you will be required to adapt to the needs of the organisation. This might mean spending more time packing coffee on one day and then managing stock on another.

**Salary**: £12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4 - 18 per week
