You will be joining us at a very exhilarating time as we embark on delivering a new targeted outreach service working in partnership with Burton MIND.

We are looking for someone to support the equality and diversity agenda. Ethnic minority groups are underdiagnosed, under-represented, and under supported in South Staffordshire. This role will ensure that our dementia advice and support is accessible to seldom heard from groups, it will involve building trust and relationships within these communities and local community groups.

The project will run for 2 years, and the aim is to: support people from our underserved communities to access a diagnosis, increase the awareness of dementia, improve access to support groups, reduce health inequalities through education and relationships, and support in navigating through the dementia pathway.

The Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Support service involves dedicated members of staff giving one to one support, information, and guidance to people with dementia or their carers and wider family or friends, to help people understand dementia, cope with day to day living with dementia and prepare for the future. As part of your role you will also coordinate, organise, and facilitate awareness raising events and Dementia Friends sessions in the community to inform, educate, and support those affected by dementia

This role will require you to build relationships with a range of local contacts. You will network with health and care professionals, marketing Alzheimer’s Society services to help people with a diagnosis to get referred to the service as early as possible. As well as developing networks with partner organisations to promote the aim of empowering individuals living with dementia to make informed choices

We provide information, guidance and support in people’s homes and across the community of South Staffordshire.

We are looking for:

- Working experience of assessing people face to face with an ability to assess their needs.
- Deliver advice and guidance with a non-judgmental approach and outstanding communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills to manage your caseload of clients effectively.
- Good IT skills and be able to travel independently across South Staffordshire.
- Good presentation skills and confident in speaking to an audience.
- An understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers would be an advantage but if you have had experience supporting with other challenges this would be taken into consideration.
