Orthotist

- AFC Band 5 salary range £28,384 - £35,365 (based on experience)
- WTE 37.5 Hours per week.
- I x full time permanent post
- This posts is advertised as a full time post however we are happy to consider part time and job share positions in line with the service requirements.

**Duties & responsibilities**:

- assessing referred patients’ orthotic needs and, either alone or in collaboration with other members of the multi-disciplinary clinic team, prescribe and provide orthotic devices required to meet these needs.
- supervise the manufacture and procurement of orthotic devices prescribed for referred patients.
- review patients’ orthotic requirements to ensure the effectiveness and safety of devices provided.

**Key requirements**:

- The Orthotic department is located within the SMART Centre at Astley Ainslie Hospital in Edinburgh. We provide Orthotic care to the population of Lothian and for the Scottish National Paediatric Spinal Deformity Service.
- We currently have a team of 12.6 in-house orthotists. We also have 4 in-house technicians supported by a technical team lead as well as 2 ModernApprentice Orthotics and Prosthetics Technicians. We use external companies for some of our manufacture services.
- We aim to deliver high quality patient centred care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- The successful applicants will be conducting a mixture of face to face and telephone/Near Me clinics, and will be supported by Advanced Orthotists.
