Reporting to the Director of Finance (DoF), you will lead the Financial Operations team. You will design, review, improve, and deliver Financial Operations processes that are fit for purpose in the context of supporting the University¿s 'Liverpool 2031¿ strategic aims and objectives. There are 20 staff members in the Finance Operations Team of which 2 are directly managed by this role.

You will have full oversight of key financial transactional processes, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR) and Treasury (cash & banking). You will provide strong scrutiny to ensure that operational activities are executed and delivered as per the policies of the organisation.

Working closely with other members of the finance senior team you will support delivery of the University¿s 'Liverpool 2031¿ vision for education and research. The role carries a high degree of leadership and management responsibility within Finance and across the University. Working closely with the DoF you will improve the financial processes of the University and its subsidiaries. There will be multiple opportunities for project work as we seek to drive efficiency across the University and support significant growth in achieving our ambition to be a global top 100 institution.

In close alignment with other teams and end users, the delivery of Purchase to Pay and Order to Cash are critical to the functioning of the University and its subsidiaries. We are responsible for c£710m of income and expenditure annually and a Balance Sheet with Net Assets of c£800m.

You will be an experienced and highly motivated individual with knowledge of working in a large complex organisation who is able to perform effectively under significant pressure, continuously working within tight deadlines and is expected to act independently with little direct supervision from his/her line manager. You will be a member of a recognised accounting professional body.

You will have an extensive and proven track record of team management and will need to be personable and able to work collaboratively with colleagues within and outside the Finance Directorate. Good system knowledge and the ability to challenge the status quo and improve processes is essential. You should have extensive prior experience of managing financial processing functions, and of developing and enforcing policies and procedures which support these.
