**Facilities Supervisor**:
University of Plymouth Students' Union is a charity and is a very friendly work place. We have an opportunity for a Facilities Supervisor to join the team to maintain our multifunctional venue. You will work as part of our facilities team. Excellent building maintenance skills and experience of supervising a team are important in the role. Details of the Facilities Supervisor job:
**Purpose of Post**:

- To provide a service including maintenance, safety checks, minor repairs and cleaning provision.
- To supervise the team of Cleaners to ensure that all cleaning staff comply with Manual Handling Regulations, Health and Safety at Work act and COSHH Regulations or all cleaning products and routines.
- To provide support to the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manger daily ensuring the smooth running of the facility operation.
- To assist the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager in managing planned maintenance and basic Health and Safety.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

The Facilities Supervisor will be responsible for the overall care and maintenance of the buildings including outside spaces, working with all departments across the organisation in the following areas.

**Facilities**
- To follow the facility management programme including preventative maintenance.
- To provide a maintenance service including building maintenance, safety checks, minor repairs, and support with cleaning provision.
- To undertake painting, minor decorating, minor electrical and odd jobs.
- To work closely with other departments in the organisation delivering an excellent service in support of their objectives.
- To inform the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager of any breakages of furniture or fittings.
- To monitor and report on any recurrent problems.
- The role will include significant manual handling, working at height and working with tools, so will require knowledge of H&S compliance and a good approach to safe working.
- Overseeing contractors and inspecting completed jobs.
- Assisting with emergency response and evacuations.
- Inspecting the building frequently for signs of damage or wear.

**Supervision of the Cleaning Team**
- To maintain all cleaning materials issued in a clean, hygienic state.
- To inform Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager of any breakages of furniture or fittings.
- Evaluating employee performance and providing direction, correction, or additional training to ensure proper cleaning of the building.
- To ensure that at the end of each shift the furniture and fittings are set out according to the agreed plan.
- To monitor and report on any recurrent problems with the evening and weekend cleaning routines.
- To monitor the levels of cleaning materials and inform the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager of any shortages in cleaning materials or of any equipment faults.
- To keep a record of all cleaning materials issued to other departments
- To ensure that the weekend cleaners have adequate cleaning supplies for the weekend tasks.
- To ensure that all cleaning staff conduct their duties in a safe and professional manner**.**:

- Scheduling cleaners through Staff Savvy to ensure all events have adequate cleaning cover.

**Out of hours**
- To act as point of contact outside of normal office hours for security and maintenance issues.

**Duty Management**:

- To ensure the buildings are kept safe and secure.
- To carry out security rounds of all departments and to lock down buildings at the end of an event and ensure all codes and keys are kept safe and secure.
- Take charge in case of fire evacuation
- To complete the duty manager / incident report at the end of a duty manager shift and ensure this is filed correctly and escalated as required. Reports should be completed latest within 24hrs of an incident.
- To always hold the duty managers phone when on duty ensuring all calls are logged and handled correctly as required
- Maintaining all statutory records as required
- To manage cleaning of the buildings.
- To keep a Security Log.
- To deactivate the alarms on opening the building in the morning and activate them at the close of business.
- To monitor entry to UPSU with student staff and enforce Union door policy.
- To ensure the safety and security of all our buildings, machines and monies.
- To manage door staff night and day.
- To carry out emergency banking for the Finance Office.
- To carry out security patrols throughout the union buildings.
- To carry out security rounds of all departments at end of working day.
- To carry alarm bleeper, emergency telephone and radio, and respond to emergencies as required.
- To evict persons that break Union rules and complete the relevant report.
- At end of the evening session to reduce energy consumption by switching off all unnecessary lights and machines. To switch these back on again at the start of the morning session.
