We are looking to recruit a full time Consultant Paediatrician to join our existing team of 12 highly engaged and collaborative colleagues. A specialist interest in Cardiology is desirable but not essential and other specialist interests will be considered if complimentary to the department. Opportunities exist to further develop expertise in post.

We welcome informal visits to familiarise with our department and what we can offer.

Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register.

The role includes a mix of traditional non-resident Consultant on call with a frequency of 1:18 and Resident on call working including 26 nights per year and 1:18 long day weekends on the tier 2 rota. There is some flexibility possible in the pattern of resident on call night working to suit individual preferences.

The role also includes full participation in the Consultant of the week and “second on” Consultant system at a total frequency currently of 1:12 utilising the multidisciplinary team to cover the acute Paediatric ward, level 1 neonatal unit and acute paediatric admissions via children’s assessment unit or ED. Outpatient work will include general paediatrics as well as specialty clinics.

Support to students and trainees from KSS deanery and a variety of medical schools provides opportunities for development and training in education and clinical supervision.

We have a strong focus on multidisciplinary working and good communication skills and team working are essential.
