We have a current opportunity for a Youth Worker on a permanent basis. The position will be based in West Midlands.

**Main purpose**:
To work with students and staff to develop, manage and deliver an extra-curricular enrichment programme, inclusive of activities, societies and events that promote and encourage students to engage and develop their employability and leadership skills, alongsideawareness around key areas such as health, equality and diversity and safety.

Providing an effective link between college staff, the Student Council and all other student representatives across the College sites. Through this collaboration the post holder will develop, manage and coordinate a cross-college programme of extra-curricularenrichment activities including clubs, societies, trips, volunteering, fundraising and events. These activities will support the work of BMet in promoting and encouraging students to engage in, and to develop skills that are attractive to potential futureemployers.

The Post Holder will work closely with curriculum and tutorial teams to promote learner voice activities and support the collation of feedback from students on the quality of teaching and learning. Communicate regularly with the student body across the variouscolleges, obtain student feedback and respond to it where possible, working with curriculum and tutorial teams, to use feedback to improve the educational and college experiences of our students.

**Key accountabilities**

- To offer strategic and operational support and advice to the elected student representatives of the Directorates and College Student Councils;
- To develop and implement positive, inclusive and democratic student representation and consultation, through such mechanisms running and supporting the Student Council & Student Governor elections, and establishing forums for students to influence collegepolicy and development;
- Ensuring these forums become key tools in engaging with students at the College to ensure all students feel involved, feel welcome to attend events, and know that their contributions are valued and acted upon where possible;
- To work with the student reps from each of the curriculum directorates to organise student events and conferences in collaboration with the Students' Union to bring students together to share experiences and views;
- To build relationships with students (on an individual and group basis) and advocate their views, opinions and needs;
- To develop and manage the effective implementation of student enrichment opportunities ensuring all students have sufficient access;
- To maximise participation in an annual programme of clubs, trips, societies and activities for students to take part in, both independently and in groups;
- To work with BMet Student Councils to promote the benefits of the National Union of Students (NUS) so our students have opportunities to participate and become part of national student voice activities through NUS;
- To work alongside the curriculum and tutorial teams to facilitate the participation of students in organised competitions and other ancillary student focused events, both internally and externally;
- **Qualifications Essential**

- GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths at grade C/4 or above;
- A relevant qualification at level 2 or above (i.e. Youth Worker)
- Evidence of recent and relevant continuing professional development;
**Qualifications Desirable**

- A commitment to work towards a Level 3 qualification;
**Experience**
- Previous working experience in a Pastoral/Welfare/Student facing environment working with young people;
- Experience of successfully organising events/activities and delivering these to plan including timeliness and budget;
- Experience of project management with the ability to co-ordinate a diverse range of simultaneous projects to deadlines;
- Experience of using Social Media to promote events for young people;
- Proven experience of promoting and developing student voice and student engagement through a variety of mediums;
- Experience of monitoring and evaluating projects and activities that are student led;
- Experience of supervising young people to successfully deliver events;
- Experience of supporting students to set up and run societies and clubs;
- Experience of organising student elections;
- Experience of training student representatives;
- Experience of producing digital and print materials of high quality which attract and engage the identified audience;
- Experience of engaging and working with young people from a diverse range of background and life experiences;
- Experience of working with NUS (National Union of Students) and building a strong learner voice network within a college setting;
