the opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available for a well-versed senior level inspector to join our client, leading a team of highly successful inspectors. As Senior Inspector you will be the ‘go to’ person for overseeing and coordinating inspection activities across a variety of projects.

your duties and responsibilities will be
- Conduct RBI assessments of assets within the area of responsibility as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Using the RBI data to produce fit for purpose Written Schemes of Examination (WSE) ensure that all potential degradation mechanisms are inspected for using the most appropriate Non-destructive Testing (NDT) techniques and at suitable frequencies, in line with site Procedures.
- Conduct visual inspections in accordance with the WSEs and collating and checking NDT reports from specialist contractors to satisfy the WSE.
- Writing inspection reports ensuring that a comprehensive record of findings is maintained.
- Reviewing findings from inspection events and, with support of others, when necessary, made a determination on the asset’s fitness for service
- Make technical recommendations for repair / replacement of assets using the Corrective Action Inspection Request (CAIR) process. Ensuring life cycle costs are always considered when making recommendations.
- Review and update the WSE after each examination to ensure it always remains suitable.
- Specifying NDT requirements on new (minor) fabrications (Q12bs).
- Witnessing pressure tests and mechanical connector (e.g. Lokring) installations where required.
- Reviewing NDT reports to ensure fabrications are in line with Q12b requirement and site procedures.
- Make technical recommendations for rectification of immediate fault using CAIRs.
- Investigate cause of event, producing investigation reports when required.
- Agree any follow up inspections required using non-reoccurring schedules (NRS).

you will have the following qualifications & experience
- Experience in inspection in a relevant process industry with the majority of the above experience elements.
- Ability to read and interpret commonly used engineering drawings and data sets used in support of inspection activities, e.g. piping isometrics, vessel general arrangements, piping and instrumentation diagrams, process flow diagrams, piping schedules.
- Detailed knowledge of the uses and limitations of commonly applied non-destructive examination techniques applied in support, e.g. MPI, DPI, UT measurement, Rad techniques. Working knowledge of the use and limitations of specialist NDE techniques.
- Clear understanding of major discipline issues arising from oil and gas production systems. Awareness of materials and key degradation mechanisms associated with the deterioration of onshore production facilities.
- Awareness of piping and vessel design codes, e.g. ASME VIII, PD5500, ASME B31.3.
- Assess defects or anomalies found to recognised Fitness for Purpose industry codes and standards.
- Strong understanding of PSSR regulations.
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17020 and awareness of how it influences how an Inspection department operates.
- Develop or update Written Schemes of Examination or equivalent as part of inspection preparations as required.

it’s great if you also have the following
- HNC/HND qualified in an appropriate Engineering Discipline.
- Professional Body Membership / Engineering Council status.
- Radiographic Interpretation (RI).
- PCN (or equivalent) Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS).
