The George Institute for Global health are focused on the global health challenges that cause the greatest loss of life, the greatest impairment of life quality and the most substantial economic burden, particularly in resource-poor settings.
Due to the recent award of a number of substantial research grants, The George Institute for Global Health is recruiting a new research assistants/research fellows (level dependent on experience) to join our growing epidemiology and statistical analysis team. The post-holders will assist in conducting and interpreting analyses of large health and medical datasets with an overall goal of developing evidence-based recommendations that will improve the health of millions of women and men, both in the UK and internationally.
The post-holders will join our team of statisticians, epidemiologists, clinical research fellows, health systems scientists, PhD students and support staff, and will be expected to contribute to various projects which use data from several hundred thousand (or even millions) of individuals (disease registries, cohort studies, primary care records, biobanks and meta-analyses).
**Duties and responsibilities**:
The postholders will be responsible for conducting epidemiological and statistical research with a primary focus on chronic health conditions and the ways in which various factors, such as socio-economic status, or the concurrent presence of multiple conditions (multimorbidity) can impact health outcomes such as morbidity, mortality, and health service use. Importantly, the research will not stop at uncovering these issues, but will seek explanations for sex/gender differences - biological, behavioural or otherwise.
**Essential requirements**:
- Experience of analysing large-scale administrative or routinely collected health-related datasets
- Scientific research published in peer-reviewed journal
**Further information**:
The post is full time and fixed-term for 2 years in the first instance with possibility of extension, based at the White City Campus.
- The College believes that the use of animals in research is vital to improve human and animal health and welfare. Animals may only be used in research programmes which are ultimately aimed towards finding new treatments and making scientific and medical advances, and where there are no satisfactory or reasonably practical alternatives to their use. Imperial is committed to ensuring that, in cases where this research is deemed essential, all animals in the College’s care are treated with full respect, and that all staff involved with this work show due consideration at every level._ _Find out more about animal research at Imperial_._
