Job description

**About the team**

The Chief Scientist Directorate provides scientific and evidence leadership, services, and support to help Natural England operate as an evidence-led organisation. The Lead Adviser will be based in the Evidence Earth Observation Service (EEOS), in Data Science Services part of the Chief Scientist’s Directorate.

The post-holder will work within the EEOS, which acts as a centre of excellence within the organisation for developing and integrating EO services. EEOS cover a wide breadth of work, including drone data capture and processing, monitoring sand dune morphology, wildfire mapping and habitat mapping.

This Lead adviser position has two main roles, firstly the NE Drone Lead User role and the other the EEOS Drone Pilot. Then there are some key responsibilities alongside this, including being the Technical Lead for Drone data post processing and managing the EEOS High Accuracy GPS. As NE’s Drone Lead User you are responsible for managing all drone operations according to Natural England’s Operations Manual and agreed with NE Accountable Manager for drones (Director for Analytical Services - Joe Hillier). Then as an EEOS Drone pilot you will carry out land surveys, post processing and analysis using our Fixed Wing drone the Sensefly eBee X.
